White scored tablets marked WELLCOME H9A.

Presentation

Tablets, dapsone 100 mg , pyrimethamine 12.5 mg.

Indications

Prophylaxis of malaria.

Adult Dosage

1 weekly.

Child Dosage

Under 5 years, not applicable; 5 Under 5 years, not applicable; 5 - 10 years, half adult dose; over 10 years, same as adult. Maintain therapy for 4 weeks after leaving area.

Special Precautions

Not suitable for the treatment of dermatitis herpetiformis. Lactation. Hepatic or renal impairment. Give folate supplements in pregnancy and other deficiency states.

Interactions

Folate inhibitors, rifampicin, probenecid.

Adverse Reactions

Blood disorders. Acute haemolysis and skin sensitivity.
