Tablets, bumetanide 0.5mg, potassium chloride 573mg (7.7 mmol K+) in slow-release wax core.Indications
Oedema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic ascites and renal disease where potassium supplement is required.Adult Dosage
1 - 4 daily.Child Dosage
Not recommended.Contra Indications
Burinex K should not be used with potassium sparing diuretics, (e.g. spironolactone, triamterene or amiloride) or in patients with renal insufficiency. As with other diuretics, Burinex K should not be administered concurrently with lithium salts. Diuretics can reduce lithium clearance resulting in high serum levels of lithium. All solid forms of potassium medication are contraindicated in the presence of obstruction in the digestive tract (e.g. resulting from compression of the oesophagus due to dilation of the left atrium or from stenosis of the gut). Anuria, Crohn's Disease, hyperkalaemia, precomatose states associated with liver cirrhosis, Addison's Disease, known hypersensitivity to bumetanide or Burinex.
Special Precautions
Prostatic hypertrophy or impaired micturition. Renal or hepatic impairment. Diabetes. Pregnancy. Lactation. Gout.Interactions
K+-sparing diuretics, lithium, digitalis, antihypertensives, aminoglycosides.Adverse Reactions
Rash, cramps, GI discomfort, thrombocytopenia, gynaecomastia. Discontinue if any symptoms of ulceration or obstruction of small bowel occur.
