Corticosteroids (steroids) / vasoconstrictors / local anaesthetics.

Betamethasone valerate, phenylephrine, lignocaine [lidocaine]

Drug Description

Ointment.

Presentation

Ointment, betamethasone valerate 0.05%, phenylephrine hydrochloride 0.1%, lignocaine hydrochloride 2.5%.

Indications

Haemorrhoids, non-infected anal or peri-anal conditions.

Adult Dosage

Apply two or three times daily reducing to once daily for up to 7 days.

Child Dosage

Under 1 year, not recommended; over 1 year, same as adult.

Contra Indications

Bacterial, fungal and viral infections.

Special Precautions

Pregnancy.

Adverse Reactions

Systemic corticosteroid effects.
